One dead in morning crash

Published:

— A 45-year-old New Port Richey woman died Saturday morning when the pickup she was driving went out of control, flipped and struck a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Authorities had not reached the woman’s relatives by press deadline, and thus had not released her name.

According to the highway patrol’s accident report: The woman was traveling eastbound on State Road 50, just west of U.S. 19, when the 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup left the roadway shortly before 7 a.m. She steered the truck back onto the road but it spun out of control, again left the pavement, overturned and struck a tree.

The woman died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt, the report stated.
