SPRING HILL - Challenger K8 kindergarteners in Margie Yurtinus's class spent much of Thursday learning about Thanksgiving while helping parent and community volunteers fix a Thanksgiving meal.
Turkey, stuffing, deviled eggs, yams, deli ham, and peanut-butter snacks were on the menu.
Students sang "peanut, peanut butter - and jelly" at the snack station, and helped butter several birds at the turkey station while learning the different parts of the animal they had be eating.
"Are you afraid of turkeys?" one student asked another.
Leading up to the feast, Yurtinus said her students have been learning about Native American culture and history, the origins of Thanksgiving and early colonial life.
