'Operation H.O.P.E.' food drive

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Jericho Road Ministries "Operation H.O.P.E." (Helping Other People Eat) is having a food drive during through December. Businesses, residents, students, club and schools are invited to participate by collecting specific food items for use at one of Jericho's five county distribution sites. The food drive is looking for the following items: toilet paper, dry milk, peanut butter and jelly, rice, boxed mashed potatoes, canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats including tuna and chicken, canned soups, pasta, spaghetti sauce, boxed macaroni and cheese, breakfast cereals. Please bring your food donation to the Chamber of Commerce's office located at 15588 Aviation Loop Drive in Brooksville. Your participation positively affects the hundreds of needy students, families, seniors and homeless throughout Hernando County who need our help. Holiday golf tournament

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce's Annual Holiday Golf Tournament will be held Thursday at Southern Hills Plantation Club featuring "Q-School" Conditions. The day starts with registration at 7:30 a.m., followed by a breakfast catered by Chick-fil-A. Then test your skills on the putting green. Tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Lunch is also provided. Opportunities for Hole-In-One prizes and long drive awards. Pick from a variety of package deals that will include mulligans and tickets for some great prizes in the Chinese Auction! Pre-paid player packages are available. $100 Entry fee includes golf cart, practice facility and BBQ lunch. Chinese Auction immediately following the tournament. Brooksville Christmas parade

Jingle bells will be ringing for the 39th Annual Brooksville Christmas Parade, presented by the The Kiwanis Club of Brooksville and the City of Brooksville on Saturday at 10 a.m. in downtown Brooksville. This year's theme: "I'll be Home for Christmas- a Salute to our Veterans". Grand Marshalls will include Veterans from WWII to the War on Terror. Fun for the entire family! Bring your chairs and blankets- get the perfect spot on the parade route as it winds through downtown Brooksville. The parade will include local high school marching bands, ROTC units, floats from local businesses, youth organizations, clubs, churches, government entities and so much more. Come on out for a morning filled with merriment and excitement as you enjoy the floats & music honoring those who have served us all. Light up Ridge Manor Christmas festival

The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce's Eastside Business Networking Group invites vendors to sign up now to participate in the 5th annual Light up Ridge Manor Christmas festival Dec. 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sunrise Plaza Shopping Center in Ridge Manor. Vendor spaces are $25 each. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for $75. This year's event will be highlighted by a children's art contest, games and activities, food, a Nativity Scene, Smokey Bear House with Smokey the Bear, the Happy Train, music by DJ Mike Gorham, and a raffle for great prizes. Santa Claus will make his official appearance and be available for photos with the children. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Eastside Elementary School. The Eastside Business Networking Group is comprised of Chamber members whose businesses are mainly located in the eastern sector of Hernando County.
