A sweet Father's Day

Published:

If you're looking for a sweet way, literally, to celebrate Father's Day, look no further.

Stop by Babycakes Cup-Cakery in Spring Hill for their "Daddy and Me Decorate a Cupcake for Father's Day" event on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Tina Grogan and Alacia Jaggi, co-owners of Babycakes Cup-Cakery, summed up the event with their bakery's motto: "Making Life's Most Memorable Occasions a Little Sweeter!" "That is what we are in business to do," said Grogan.

Kids, young and old, can come to the bakery on Saturday to celebrate Dad and choose a "made from scratch" chocolate, vanilla, or confetti cupcake. Then you get to decorate and personalize your own cupcake for Dad for only $2 each. You may decorate as many cupcakes as you like.

All of the bakery's cupcakes are made from scratch and use the freshest ingredients. We are talking real butter and real cream cheese, folks. Can we just say, "yum?!"

"What I love is coming up with unique creations and seeing the response people have on their face when they taste the cupcake. I hear so many times, 'wow, this really is made from scratch'. Of course it is. You can't create unique flavors with a base mix," said Grogan.

Babycakes Cup-Cakery is also vying for a chance to appear on the Food Network Channel show, "Cupcake Wars."

"To get on the show would be phenomenal. We've only been open for six months, so that would be a feat in and of itself, not to mention that we'd be the first in the Tampa Bay region to ever get on the show. There are a lot of cupcake shops out there, so it would really put us and Spring Hill on the map," said Grogan.

As a component of casting for the show, competitors submit videos via youtube.com as part of their audition to see who gets the most views of the video.

"Right now our YouTube audition video is number one in views in the entire nation. We are competing against bakers across the nation and want to show the producers that although Spring Hill is small by population compared to large metro areas, we have a very passionate community that supports locally owned businesses," said Grogan.
