Harvest festival

BROOKSVILLE - Communities In Schools of Hernando County & Hernando High School's inaugural Harvest Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Tom Varn Park, 306 Derby Lane, Brooksville. No cost to attend. Vendor registration and set-up starts at 9 a.m.

Haunted trail

SPRING HILL - The eighth annual Haunted Trail on Golddust will be open from 7:30 to 10 p.m. today and tomorrow and Oct. 25-26 at 5277 Golddust Road, Spring Hill. The cost is $5 to enter and all proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of the Nature Coast. Survive the trail and come face to face with the wicked witch. Appropriate footwear required. 'Fiddler on the Roof'

BROOKSVILLE - The Live Oak Theatre Company presents "Fiddler on the Roof" with performances on Friday and Saturday and Oct. 25, 26 and 27 at the Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mt. Fair Ave., Brooksville. Performances on Friday and Saturday will start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Adult admission is $18 or $35 per couple, students 13 and under are $5 with purchase of adult ticket. Halloween harvest

BROOKSVILLE - Hernando County Parks and Recreation is hosting a Halloween Harvest Festival from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Hernando County Fair Grounds, 6436 Broad St., Brooksville. General admission is free, game tickets are four for $1, haunted house is $3 and the hayride is $2. Food will be available and priced separately. Halloween dance

SPRING HILL -The Arc Nature Coast Halloween Dance Party will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at The Arc Nature Coast Education Center, 6495 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. Ballroom dance

SPRING HILL - Let's Dance Nature Coast is hosting a Ballroom Dance on Friday at the Suncoast Dance & Party Center, 13383 County Line Rd., Spring Hill. SPRING HILL - Strong Tower Vineyard & Winery presents "Un Diner Elegance" which begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the vineyard, 17810 Forge Dr., Spring Hill. BROOKSVILLE - The Brookridge Neighborhood Fall Garage Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brookridge Clubhouse, 8161 Hampton St., Brooksville. Corn maze

BROOKVILLE - The "Fall Corn Maze" and pumkin patch will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 3 at Sweetfield Farms, 17250 Benes Roush Road, Brooksville. Admission gains entrance to the corn maze, pumpkin patch, hayride, hay play area, hay maze and spider web maze, picnic area, treehouse, story teller, craft of the season and more. Mermaid Encounter

WEEKI WACHEE - Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, 6131 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee, is offering a "Mermaid Encounter" for children between the ages of 3 and 14. Children will spend 20-minute with one of Weeki Wachee's live mermaids in the "Mermaid Lagoon" at Buccaneer Bay. There will be two sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. The first session starts at 3:30 p.m. and is for children between 3 and 6 years old. The second session starts at 4:30 p.m. and is for children between the ages of 7 and 14. The cost is $75. Ethnic festival

SPRING HILL - The Spring Hill Ethnic Festival is selling advance discount armband tickets for the festival on Oct. 24-27 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 13485 Spring Hill Dr., Spring Hill. Rummage sale

SPRING HILL - The Crescent Community Clinic presents the Syrian cultural festival from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Senior Citizen Center of Hernando County, 7925 Rhanbuoy Rd., Spring Hill. Free food and drinks will be available and a bounce house for children. Flu shots and free blood pressure readings.

Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is sponsoring a Wine Tasting Fundraiser from 7 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 26 at Strong Tower Winery, 17810 Forge Dr., Spring Hill. Model show

SPRING HILL - The Nature Coast Modelers will have a show and tell Model Show from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 26 at 4042 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill. Coastal cleanup

HERNANDO BEACH - The Hernando County Stormwater Engineering Department has scheduled a Coastal Clean-Up from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 starting at Linda Pedersen Park, 6300 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach. Volunteers will report to the park to receive trash bags and complete clearance forms. The Coastal Clean-Up is the first event of its kind in several years and we hope to attract youth groups, civic organizations and individuals. Help keep Hernando County beautiful. Youth summit

BROOKSVILLE - The Hernando Youth Initiative's Sixth Annual Summit for Youth & Families will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with registration and refreshments starting at 8 a.m. on Nov. 1 at the Faith Presbyterian Church, 200 Mt. Fair Ave., Brooksville. There is no cost to attend this event to remove barriers and put solutions in place to create a better quality of life for all, especially our youth. The keynote speaker for the summit will be Dr. Fairest Hill and the guest speaker is Superintendent Dr. Lori Romano. Sponsors are still needed from $50 to $500.
