Jimmy Ferraro’s Studio Theatre features five shows for main season

Jimmy Ferraro’s Studio Theatre got off to a strong start over the summer, opening in June with sold-out showings of the musical comedy “Church Basement Ladies,” followed by the first showing of “Coupled,” a musical comedy by a Brooksville playwright.

To round out it’s summer season, the theater at 5732 Main St. in downtown New Port Richey, will show “The Singing Divas of Broadway & Hollywood,” starring Dee Etta Rowe and Mary Anne Edwards. The musical cabaret runs from Sept. 5-28 and will pay homage to the Golden Age of show business with Broadway and movie classics.

The theater’s main season starts on Oct. 17 and will feature five shows:

♦ Oct. 17-Nov. 16

“Ain’t Retirement Grand!” is a musical that explores the special years of retirement, featuring songs about early bird specials, silver cord, pets, exercise, doctors and HMOs.

♦ Nov. 29-Dec. 21

“A Christmas Cabaret” is a musical-comedy review for the whole family filled with traditional Christmas favorites along with new songs and dances.

♦ Jan. 9-Feb. 1

“Murder on the High C’s” an interactive musical-comedy murder mystery for the whole family featuring Carlotta Itsalotta.

♦ Feb. 13-March 15

“Holy Cannoli” a comedy about a daughter who gets a visit from her strict Italian Catholic parents, who expect to meet her young female roommate, who is actually a guy.

♦ April 3-May 3

“Ain’t food wonderful!” is a musical comedy about restaurant dining, holiday feasts dieting, the organic food rage, pregnancy, cravings and fast food emporiums.
