Things to do in Hernando County this weekend

Clay Kirk and friends

High Point Community hosts a fundraiser show, "Gospel Jubilee Celebration," featuring Clay Kirk and friends along with a special guest performer from Nashville, Tenn., at 7 p.m. today at the Community Center, 12249 Club House Road, Brooksville. Easter 5K and Fun Run

Hernando County Roadrunners host the inaugural Easter Day 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Tower, Croom State Park, 26416 Croom Road, Brooksville. The 5K will have individual awards per age group and the first 150 runners receive a T-shirt. Easter baskets with goodies will be given out to all that finish the 1 Mile Fun Run and an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids follows both races. Titanic tribute tea

The second annual Romance of Yesteryear, a tribute to the Titanic, is being presented at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday at the Titled Teacup Tea Room, 200 W. Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. The event features a full high tea served on three tiers. Guests are encouraged to come in Edwardian attire, and a replica of the Heart of the Ocean necklace will be given away at each seating.

'The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe'

Live Oak Theatre presents "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" on Saturday and April 25, 26 and 27 at Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mount Fair Ave., Brooksville. Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for students 13 and under or $5 with purchase of an adult ticket. All tickets include coffee/tea and dessert.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinee is at 2:30 p.m. Saturday's show will have an additional performance at 2:30 p.m.

Yard sale at Legion post

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 186, Charles Murray Post 186, will have a Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the post, 12091 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Proceeds benefit veterans, their families and the community.

Spirit People have Spring Pow Wow

Spirit People Intertribal Family hosts the inaugural Spring Pow Wow today, Saturday and Sunday at USA Flea Market, 11721 U.S. 19, Port Richey. There will be entertainment, food, vendors, demonstrators, door prizes, auctions and raffles. Admission is $3 per adult with children under 12 admitted free. Gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. today and Saturday, and close at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Rifle marksmanship clinic offered

Hernando County Sportsman's Club offers the Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic on Saturday and May 10 and 11 at the club, 16121 Commercial Way, Brooksville. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the clinic is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. all days. Clinic fees are $40 for one day or $60 for both days. Youth under age 18 are $15 for one day or $20 for both days. The fee is waived for active duty military, law enforcement and elected officials. Additional club range fees of $14 per day apply for adults and children age 12 and older. Bring your own ear/eye protection, a rifle with sling, ammunition (about 250 rounds), rifle mat, bug repellent, hat, sunscreen, a packed lunch, snacks, drinks and water. Food and beverages will be available.

High school plans Saturday flea market

Springstead High School hosts a Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the the theater parking lot, 3300 Mariner Blvd., Spring Hill. Vender spaces are $10 for a double space.

Poetry Roundtable set at City Hall

Just Poets presents an adult poets roundtable in recognition of Poetry Month from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville. Roundtable activities are from 1 to 3 p.m. and poetry readings by attendees run from 3 to 4 p.m. All who write poetry or aspire to write poetry are invited. Roundtable topics include Metaphor and Simile; Exploring the Poetic Voice; Words for Mood and Feelings; and Nature Poetry, Haiku. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

Audubon Society has Thursday picnic

Hernando Audubon Society plans a picnic on Thursday at McKethan Lake, on U.S. 41 seven miles north of Brooksville. There will be a bird walk at 4:30 p.m. followed by supper at 6 p.m. Hot dogs will be provided; bring a dish to share, dinner plate, utensils and beverage.
