Bring your caboose

Regal Railways presents a Model Train Show & Swap Meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 Broad St. in Brooksville. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.

Flock to jam festival

The 5th & Blues Jam Festival takes place from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Horse Lake Field, 7601 Horse Lake Road, Brooksville. The monthly festival features a different host band every month. Jammers are invited to sit in with the band or perform a few tunes on their own, and activities include a corn hole contest. Food, beer and beverages are available for purchase.

Fire dept. fundraiser

Bring your family and friends to a Fundraiser for the Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department, from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at The Cove Seafood Grill and Lounge, 3192 Shoal Line Blvd., Hernando Beach. There will be a DJ, live music and lots of giveaways, along with a corn hole tournament (you must register by Saturday). For each meal purchased, you’ll receive a free appetizer and salad. Proceeds benefit the Hernando Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

Better Body Bootcamp

Better Body Bootcamp is offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Morning boot camp is from 7 to 8 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 12254 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, and evening boot camp from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Delta Woods Park, 3400 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill. The cost is $5 per class for six weeks paid in advance, or 18 classes for $90. If you prefer to pay as you go the cost is $7 per class and $10 for drop-in fee. Low-cost pet vaccinations

Low-cost pet vaccinations are being offered by Florida International Teaching Zoo’s staff veterinarian Mark Wilson from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Tractor Supply, 18741 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. The cost of vaccinations for dog/cat rabies shot is $7; dog/puppy parvo-distemper combos are $15; cat/kitten distemper three-way is $15; and Bordatella/kennel cough $16. All vaccinations are administered by a licensed veterinarian and documentation will be provided. Proceeds are tax deductible contributions that benefit Florida International Teaching Zoo programs. Florida Friendly Landscaping invites Hernando County residents to attend the “Landscaping for Hurricane Safety” class at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at West Hernando Library, 6335 Blackbird Ave., Brooksville. Participants get tips on what tree issues could cause problems, types of trees and plants that have better storm survival rates and what to do to help a landscape recover faster from hurricane damage. No registration is required; first come, first seated.

Cleanup planned for Kass Circle

A Kass Circle Clean Up revitalization of Kass Circle will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. on June 7. Sign up at Spring Hill Nutrition, 1409 Kass Circle, Spring Hill, where instructions, gloves, trash bags, etc. will be provided. Businesses and residents are invited to put their efforts together and all who can volunteer will be appreciated.

Dance group plans Father’s Day dance

Brooksville Social Dance Group hosts a Father’s Day Dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on June 7 at the Club House, 8150 Hampton St., Brooksville. The theme for the dance is NASCAR and music will be provided by the Belairs. Admission is $5 per person; ice and coffee will be available all evening and Dunkin Donuts will be served around 9:30 p.m.

‘Elvis’ will be in the building

VFW Post 10209 Ladies Auxiliary presents a Blue Hawaii Luau with Elvis from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 8 at 14736 Edward R. Noll Drive, Spring Hill. Wear your grass skirt and have your picture taken with “Elvis” (Kenn E. Grube).

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Chinsegut Conservation Center offers the following programs:

◆ June 9 through June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Chinsegut Conservation Adventure Day Camp for ages 8-12.

◆ June 21 from 9 to 11 a.m., Hike at Big Pine with David Rakes.

◆ June 21 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Cool Underground Creatures-Children in the Wild.

Kniting workshops at Encore Academy

Encore Academy at Pasco-Hernando State College offers two Knitting Workshops from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 10 and June 24 at the North Campus, 11415 Ponce de Leon Blvd., room B-101, Brooksville. The cost is $12 and students need to bring U.S. size 10 knitting needles and one large spool of yarn. The Academy provides educational opportunities to adults over the age of 50.
