Frankly Sinatra

Don Juceam, a popular Frank Sinatra tribute artist, performs his “Frankly Sinatra” show Friday at 7 p.m. at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane in Brooksville. The doors open at 6 p.m. and there will be a light menu and cash bar. Tickets are $20; call (352) 431-1393 or (352) 799-4653.

Don’t miss Beach Bash

The Friends of Weeki Wachee State Park present the third Family Beach Bash of the summer, from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Buccaneer Bay, 6131 Commercial Way, Spring Hill. Admission is $5 per person and ages 2 and under are admitted free.

The Beach Bash features water fun, hula-hoop contest, spin-it-to-win-it game and food at family-friendly prices. Proceeds benefit park improvements.

Evening bike rides

Join adventurous evening bicycle rides on the open roads of Hernando County at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Meet up at Crank Works Bicycles, 20120 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. Rides vary in distance and speed and are “no drop.” (No rider is left behind.)

Music Under the Oaks

Enjoy the fresh air with folks you know and new friends you’ll meet at Music Under the Oaks at The Farm, at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Farm, 19234 Lake Lindsey Road (C.R. 476), Brooksville. Christmas in July party on Saturday

Brooksville Elks 2582 invites members and guests to a “Christmas in July Party” from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the lodge, 14494 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville. The cost is $8 per person which includes a ham dinner and entertainment by Mid Life Crisis. Bring your ugliest Christmas sweater and put it on for a chance to win a prize. Encore Academy at PHSC continues Back to School Boot Camp and Job Seekers workshops for plus-50 students at the Spring Hill campus, 450 Beverly Court, Spring Hill. Each two hour workshop is $12 unless otherwise stated. All workshops are from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Organic vegetable gardening class

UF/IFAS Extension-Hernando County offers the free class, “Organic Fall Vegetable Gardening,” at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Spring Hill Branch Library, 9220 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill. UF/IFAS Extension horticulture agent Bill Lester will discuss how to plan and plant a successful vegetable garden using only organic and sustainable principals. No registration is required, but seating will be on a first come, first served basis.

Rec department has Belly Dance Class

Hernando County Recreation Department is sponsoring a Belly Dance Class to be presented by instructor Jaynellen on July 30 at Hernando County Recreation Center, 205 E. Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. Learn the ancient and mystical art of this tribal dance. Open to all body types, skill levels, and ages.

Rain Barrel Workshop takes place July 30

The Florida-Friendly Landscaping program of Hernando County presents a Rain Barrel Workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. on July 30 at the Hernando County Extension office, 1653 Blaise Drive, Brooksville. The cost is $65, which includes one 65-gallon rain barrel per household. Hernando County Utilities customers will receive a $25 credit on their water bill. Class size is limited and attendees must pre-pay to ensure availability of a rain barrel.
