Bolton: The talk radio mouse trap

Published:

If you enjoy learning how to become hateful, upset, bitter, fearful, manipulated and having your buttons pushed, then right-wing talk radio should be right up your alley.

Nowhere have I heard so much venom by multi-millionaires behind the safety of microphones and you the listeners get pulled right in. You take the cheese. Then to make matters worse, you start to parrot word for word what these blowhards are saying.

The poison that comes out of the mouths of national and local talk radio hosts and their callers is for the most part, sickening. The usual recipients are, you guessed it, Democrats, liberals, blacks, Muslims, Iranians, Iraqis, Chinese, Syrians, the poor, homeless, food stamp recipients, Mexicans, etc. You get my point. And speaking of Mexicans, if Mexico were made up of all white people would all of you be calling to close down the Mexican border? Answer, no. When was the last time you heard anyone screaming to close down the Canadian border? Answer, never. Why? Because our northern friends are mostly white. You see, it’s not about the border, but the color of one’s skin. It’s shameful.

I find it amazing that the majority of you call yourselves Christians. Really? Sounds real Christian to me. How do you people get up in the morning and look at yourselves in the mirror and staring back at you is the look of hatred and resentment towards people who appear different than you, but who are not. They all want the same things you want, happiness, a roof over their heads, food on the table, good health, a safe planet for their children, peace, etc.

Incidentally, I am an agnostic white guy who has dated blacks, Mexicans and my current girlfriend is from Thailand. In other words, I walk the walk.

This takes me to a local ne’er-do-well radio talk show in the morning. Over the years I hear the same old callers complaining day after day about all the things I listed. They can’t wait to get up in the morning and belly ache about everything that’s wrong, never once being thankful for what they have.

Not all, but most live a comfortable life, live in gated communities and have monetary means. Most have the ability to live almost anywhere they want. Most of all, they should give thanks for having legs, arms, eyes, a brain and the ability to create something instead of verbally destroying people. They ought to take a real hard look at themselves before they judge others.

All of you might want to ask yourselves how much sand do you have left at the top of your hourglass? Then I would make peace with myself and others before you leave this planet forever and maybe this might keep you from taking the cheese and getting caught in the talk radio mouse-trap.
