Letters to the editor, June 5

Are you serious?

I would like to know what it is going to take for the Hernando County School administrators to 'wise' up? How many high school graduations have to be ruined by indecisive people making 'stupid' decisions.

My granddaughter was to graduate from Springstead High School today, however because of weather conditions it has been changed to Friday and scheduled for outside! Are you kidding me?

I understand that no one can change or control the weather, but don't you think that after two rescheduled graduations last year and now two this year that "someone" somewhere in the system would figure out that you do not schedule outdoor events in Florida in the month of June as it rains almost every day.

Hernando High School were actually in the middle of their ceremony on Saturday when they had to cancel. That after everyone was soaking wet. At least someone had a "brain" and figured out it needed to be inside!

Why aren't all of them planned for indoors? It is terribly disappointing to look forward to the first biggest event in your life to have it changed. We as grandparents were here to share this awesome moment and had airline tickets to fly back to Michigan on Friday. Now we had to change our flight (as we would not miss this for anything) and had to pay an additional $356 for the ticket! How many others were here and had to do the same?

Come on, administrators, as much as you want to do this outside at your school, how about the students? Why aren't you thinking of them? We have also found out that some students will not be attending as they already had scheduled to leave town before Friday.

How many others can't stay and had to return home without seeing their student graduate? We all have waited and looked forward to this event for 13 years for this!

I understand what "tradition" means to folks, but under some conditions you have to make new traditions. Better new traditions than ruining such an awesome event in young peoples' lives.

Oh, before I sign off, if it rains again on Friday and Springstead High reschedules for Saturday morning at 10 a.m.. - guess where? Outside! Do you think maybe someone in this school district will get some sense? Enough said.

Obama's gifts

Obama has had a singular success in making the public more and more dependent on the government for their way of life. Dependency on the government for its gifts are great for the individuals as they will become free of worry and responsibility and will not need to make any decisions, as they will be made for you by the powers in Washington. Their motto is that we will provide for you from womb to tomb.

The welfare benefits that the government will give you, include but are not limited to the following: free food; family support payments; three meals daily for children at school; babysitting services; free housing; support funds for single mothers, for which payments increase as the number of children increase; free cellphones; free utilities and many more free gifts.

Do not forget about disability payments if you are not working and if you are not feeling well. Go to an attorney and he will get you disability payments, even if you are not really disabled, as the government is very liberal about qualifying for disability.

With all of these welfare benefits from the government you will be able to live care-free and without any worry for you or your family. You will be living in a socialized paradise at the expense of the government.

The government will care for you even if it has to go bust. If the government goes bust, don't worry, because it can easily tax those who are working to cover the deficit.

So go and enjoy the good life paid for by your government, and do not forget to thank Obama for all the goodies you will receive.

The truth, please

We celebrated Memorial Day on Monday, honoring all those who have given their lives in the defense of freedom. And in Washington, D.C. we have ongoing investigations of Benghazi, AP and Fox News scandals, targeting the free press, and the IRS, where one of the key players is hiding behind the 5th amendment, something our men and women have given their lives to defend.

Isn't it time for everyone to "step up to the plate" and tell the truth? Obama, Hillary, Holder and the lady from the IRS who is hiding behind the 5th Amendment?

And let's not let the Republicans off the hook. Is their search for the truth for the purpose of making America a better place, or just the same old political ruse to demean the other guys?

It's time for the citizens of this great country of ours to stand up and demand the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Enough with politics, lies and deceit!
