BROOKSVILLE - An assessment team will arrive at the Brooksville Police Department on April 21 to review the department's policies, procedures and management.

The team from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will examine the department on 260 standards. If approved, the accreditation is valid for three years, said Police Chief George Turner in a press release.

Turner invites the public to offer written comments about the department. A copy of the standards are available by calling (352) 540-3804. The comments can be emailed to, or mailed to CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida 32302.

Turner said the accreditation is voluntary, and a "highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence."
