Brooksville man arrested on child abuse, pornography charges

BROOKSVILLE - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested a Brooksville man on Tuesday on numerous counts of promoting sexual performance by a child and possession of child pornography.

The FDLE served a search warrant at John Paul Stanton's Spring Lake Highway home on Tuesday morning, finding photos and videos of child pornography.

Stanton, 31, was arrested on 11 charges, and posted $52,500 bond later Tuesday afternoon.

Stanton will be prosecuted locally, according to the FDLE.

The FDLE Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center Cyber and High Tech Squad were assisted by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Pasco County Sheriff's Office and the Lakeland Police Department.
