Brooksville man booked on aggravated assault charges

Published:

BROOKSVILLE - A 53-year-old Brooksville man was arrested Monday morning on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Roger Sartori, of American Lane, was observed by his daughter and her boyfriend around midnight "acting strangely as he was talking to himself and people who were not there," according to an arrest affidavit.

When the alleged victims went to their bedroom to get ready for bed, they heard two gunshots, and they fled through the front door. As they ran, one of the victims saw Sartori hanging out of a window holding a "black assault style rifle."

Sartori later told deputies he never fired a gun nor threatened to do so, and said he had a cap gun with fake bullets.

Five guns were found in Sartori's house, the affidavit shows, but no cap guns.

Sartori continues to be held on $2,500 bond, jail records show. If released, Sartori will not be able to have contact with the victims, and will be tested for drug or alcohol use weekly.
