BROOKSVILLE — A 26-year-old Brooksville man is accused of sending child pornography to his ex-girlfriend over Facebook.

Michael Edward Thomas, of 10371 Eastside Ave., was arrested by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday on five counts of electronic transmission of child pornography and one count of possession of harmful drugs without a prescription, records show.

Investigators said that Thomas sent his ex-girlfriend in Polk County several pornographic images of two children between the ages of 1 and 10, records show.

When Thomas was arrested in the Da Mac Estates subdivision in Brooksville on Wednesday, investigators found two 600 mg Gabapentin pills on him, records said.

Gabapentin is an anti-epileptic medication used to treat nerve pain in some adults, as well as restless leg syndrome and seizures, according to drugs.com, a website commonly used by law enforcement. The drug is also sold under the brand names Horizant and Neurontin.

Thomas was being held in the Hernando County jail on Thursday with bond set at $10,500. If Thomas makes bail, he is to be monitored by GPS and must have no contact with anyone under 18, records show.
