Brooksville man charged with striking girlfriend

A 49-year-old Brooksville man was taken to the Hernando County Jail on Friday after allegedly striking his live-in girlfriend with a belt and kicking her.

Brooksville police responded to 385 Union St., Apt. 15 and learned that Eric Johnson and his live-in girlfriend had gotten into a verbal argument a day earlier.

During that argument, the girlfriend told police Johnson hit her and she had bruises to back up her statement.

Police officers made contact with Johnson at the Oaks Motel and taken into custody for domestic battery, second offence.

It was discovered that Johnson was on felony probation at the time for domestic battery by strangulation.

Johnson was charged with domestic battery (second offense) and violation of felony probation. He is being held at the Hernando County Jail on a no-bond status.
