Brooksville man slaps wife repeatedly in face while driving

BROOKSVILLE - A drunken Brooksville man was arrested on a domestic battery charge Sunday after periodically backhand slapping his wife in the face while she was driving them home from a night out with friends at the Spring Hill bowling alley.

Bobby Willis, 26, consumed a large amount of alcohol at the bowling alley and was asked to leave after an incident, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Willis' wife was driving on an unknown road in Hernando County when Willis became extremely upset and slapped her multiple times with the back of his hand, knocking off her glasses and cutting her lip.

Willis pulled the sun visor out of the car ceiling and threw it out the window, the report states.

Willis slapped his wife two more times before they arrived to their home on Pointview Road.

Willis' wife ran inside the house and into the bathroom to wash the blood from her face when Willis followed her there, grabbed her hair, and tried to bang her head into the shower wall, the report shows.

When she resisted, Willis became ill, and started vomiting. At that time the woman called 911 from another room.

Willis admitted to responding deputies that he backhanded his wife in the face, and Willis was arrested and charged with domestic battery. He's being held at Hernando County Jail on $1,000 bond.
