BROOKSVILLE - A Brooksville man was arrested Saturday after stealing seven cases of beer and a shopping cart from Winn-Dixie, according to the Brooksville Police Department.

Officers spotted Keith Descoteaux, 47, "walking quickly" and pushing a shopping cart full of beer near The Quarry Golf Course at 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd., police said.

Descoteaux did not have a receipt and an investigation found he had stolen $165 worth of beer from Winn-Dixie, according to the police department.

Descoteaux, of 626 S. Broad St., was arrested on charges of retail theft and removing a shopping cart. He continues to be held on $1,000 bond.

Court records show Descoteaux has been convicted of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges in the past. He was released from the Hernando County Jail in April after serving 147 days on charges of aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older.
