Brooksville PD looking for robbery suspect

Published:

BROOKSVILLE Brooksville police continue to look for a man who demanded money from a woman in the Walmart parking lot early Wednesday morning with a knife, and ordered her to drive him to a bank to withdraw cash.

A surveillance camera captured an image of the man, who wore a black hooded sweatshirt with orange inside the hood, black pants, blue and white shoes and a black and red baseball hat with “SWAG” printed on it.

The suspect approached the victim – a 61-year-old woman – holding a knife. He later pushed her into her own car and ordered her to drive to a bank to withdraw cash. Because of other people at the bank, the suspect ordered the woman to drop him off near Jefferson Street and Asmara Avenue. Before fleeing on foot, the man told her to stay where she was, and not to follow him.

Chief George Turner said Friday afternoon the investigation continues and the department is investigating a few leads.

Any witnesses with information are asked to call Detective Whitacre at (352) 540-3800. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Hernando County Crime Stoppers at 1-(866) 990-8477 or submit a tip online at http://www.hernandosheriff.org/tips.
