Brooksville Police investigating Monday shooting

Published:

BROOKSVILLE - Brooksville Police are investigating a Monday morning shooting on Hale Avenue.

Officers responded to the Sunoco station at 765 S. Broad Street around 1 a.m., where they found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Witnesses told law enforcement they were sitting in a vehicle parked at 815 Hale Ave. when someone shot at them from outside. The bullet pierced the door, hitting the victim in the lower leg.

The man was taken to a local hospital, and is expected to recover.

No arrests have been made, and Police Chief George Turner said Tuesday his department is "actively interviewing."

The department is not releasing the victim's name at this time, and authorities do not believe the shooting was a random act.
