Brooksville Police investigating two burglaries

Published:

BROOKSVILLE - Brooksville Police are investigating two thefts at Tom Varn Park in Brooksville.

Police Chief George Turner said the first incident happened early Wednesday, when vandals cut the electric and phone lines on a building on the west side of the park, gaining access to the press box, stadium and yard where a John Deere Gator vehicle was parked.

The burglars stole the Gator, Turner said, as well candy bars from the concession area.

Turner said there was a break in the following night at the Quarry Golf Course at 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd.

"It looks like the same type of crime, and we're investigating both," Turner said.

The Gator was found on Friday afternoon near the intersection of California and Aiding Streets. Turner said the ignition was damaged, and it appeared the suspects used a screw driver to start the vehicle.

No arrests have been made.
