BROOKSVILLE - Former president of Hernando County Realtors, Gary Budek, was sentenced to six months in the county jail on Monday for violating terms of sex offender probation.

Budek, 50, avoided prison time in April when he pleaded guilty to one charge of lewd and lascivious molestation of a minor in exchange for five years sex offender probation.

During a taped phone conversation, Budek admitted to touching the girl's breast on more than one occasion between April and December 2012.

The terms of Budek's probation required him to register as a sex offender, complete a sex offender treatment program, abide by a nightly curfew, wear an electronic monitor, not have any contact with minors and take an annual lie detector test at his own expense.

Budek was arrested May 29 on charges of probation violation.

Assistant State Attorney Richard Lehman, who prosecuted the probation violation charge, said Tuesday that Budek left the tracking device at home while he went to an auto parts store.

Budek was being held in the Hernando County Jail on no bond and had nearly two months time served at the time of his sentencing. He faced up to a 15 years maximum for the charge, Lehman said.
