SPRING HILL - A pipe that burst over the weekend is to blame for the Little Red Schoolhouse Bookstore being closed this week.

According to Betty Geentiens with the Friends of the Library, the damage left behind has created a health hazard, and she decided to keep the volunteers safe at home while the carpet was ripped up and the building was repaired.

"The restoration team left yesterday, and we're doing the best we can to get back and working," Geentiens said.

The Little Red Schoolhouse, located at 1208 Kenlake Ave. in Spring Hill, is expected to re-open on July 15.

The used bookstore, staffed solely by volunteers, also serves as a meeting place for area groups. Geentiens, however, said no meetings were on the schedule for this week.

The Little Red Schoolhouse Bookstore can be reached by phone at (352) 684-0660.
