Brooksville seeing blue

BROOKSVILLE -

It?s finally here.

After months of preparation, Florida Blueberry Festival organizers got to put their plan into action Friday and prepare downtown Brooksville for the two-day event of music, food, drink, entertainment and naturally: blueberries.

?We?ve been praying for good weather,? said Michael Heard, festival coordinator for the Florida Blueberry Festival Brooksville. ?(Saturday) looks good, and clear on Sunday.?

This year marks the second year Brooksville has hosted the festival, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday with more than 150 vendors and 30 food vendors.

Although Brooksville has seen some heavy rain this week, the weather is forecasted to improve during the festival with a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday and a high of 81 degrees with 16 mph winds. Sunday isn?t forecasted to rain at all with a high of 78 degrees and 14 mph winds.

Tickets cost $5 and are available at the festival. However, to see country musician Easton Corbin, who will be playing at the festival Saturday, tickets can be purchased for $20 at the festival or online at www.floridablueberryfestival.org.

Events for Saturday include:

Pete Hunt and the Southern Branded Band performing at 6:30 p.m.

Easton Corbin performing 8:30 to 10 p.m.

Professional chef Michael Fenster Web-streaming live from the festival on the Health and Wellness Channel website at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Nick Paul Comedy Magic and Mime performing throughout the festival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A barbecue dinner and blueberry shortcakes at First United Methodist Church 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Events for Sunday include:

Professional chef Michael Fenster Web-streaming live from the festival on the Health and Wellness Channel website at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Island Grove Wine Garden both Saturday and Sunday.

Blueberry Mountain Zipline and Adventure Tower available both Saturday and Sunday

Four Beer Gardens serving Budweiser products both Saturday and Sunday
