BROOKSVILLE -

Ronnie Dale Coogle, picked up earlier this month on three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, resisting an officer without violence and smuggling contraband into jail, will serve 10 months in county jail.

Judge Daniel Merritt Jr. accepted a plea deal for the 48-year-old man in court Tuesday. Coogle pleaded no contest in return for a reduction of the assault charges from felony to misdemeanors.

The original charges carried about six years in prison.

Coogle was arrested in 2010 for simple assault, according to jail booking records.
