BROOKSVILLE - A county budget workshop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday where Assistant County Administrator for Budget and Business Development George Zoettlein will discuss the fiscal year 2014 general fund, according to the scheduled agenda.
During the workshop commissioners will discuss County Administrator Len Sossamon's proposed $322.8 million budget, which includes a $92.2 million general fund.
The tax rate needed to support the general fund is a 24.5 percent increase over last fiscal year's budget; however, officials say that the average homeowner would see an increase of about 8 percent.
County commissioners also have a regular meeting beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Hernando County Government Center, 20 North Main St., in Brooksville.
According to the agenda, Business Development Manager Mike McHugh will speak about the county's new Rural King store at 2450 U.S. 19.
County Attorney Garth Coller will discuss collective bargaining with Professional Firefighters Local Union 3760.
The Metropolitan Planning Organization meets at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and is expected to discuss progress of the Transit Development Plan 2013, a proposed plan to form a joint MPO with Citrus County, and the plan for assessing the need for bus stop benches.
