SPRING HILL - A Hernando County deputy was involved in a pedestrian accident at 1 a.m. Friday, sheriff's officials reported.

Deputy Brian Schneider was driving north on Barclay Avenue when he saw a man walking in the roadway and swerved to avoid hitting him, officials said.

The pedestrian was struck by the fender of Schneider's vehicle, and was taken to Oak Hill Hospital for minor injuries and released, authorities reported. The deputy was not injured.

The crash investigation found the pedestrian was walking home from a bar in the roadway, wearing all black clothing, sheriff's officials said.
