Ex-assistant city attorney joins Brooksville council race

BROOKSVILLE - Former assistant city attorney Robert Battista is throwing his name into the Brooksville City Council race.

The supervisor of elections website shows Battista has prefiled to run for seat one on the city council, held by longtime council member Joe Bernardini, who can not run again due to term limits.

In 2011, Battista was in the running to fill council seat 4 left behind by Emory Pierce's resignation.

Battista was tied with Vice Mayor Kevin Hohn, whose named was selected out of a motorcycle helmet to break a tie.
