BROOKSVILLE - A convicted sex offender was arrested Tuesday after deputies found a rifle and ammunition in his house.

Felix Flores Montanez, 57, of 13362 Moon Road, was convicted of sexual assault in 1993.

An arrest affidavit shows deputies and probation officers searching Montanez's home found a Winchester 22 rifle, as well as two different types of ammunition.

Montanez was arrested on charges of violation of probation and two counts of possession of a weapon or ammunition by a felon.

He is being held on no bond at the Hernando County Jail.

Court records show Judge Daniel Merritt Jr. sentenced Montanez to five years probation earlier this year for his failure to comply with sex offender reporting requirements.
