FHP looking for hit-and-run driver who killed bicyclist

HERNANDO COUNTY - The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who hit and killed a bicyclist along State Road 50 early Tuesday.

The accident happened about two miles east of U.S. Highway 301. Steven Charles Holder, 44, of Inverness, was riding his bicycle west on S.R. 50 between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., troopers said.

Holder, who did not have lights on his bike, was hit and died at the scene.

The driver, believed to be driving a late model vehicle, kept on driving, according to the FHP.

Lens covers and fragments were collected from the scene.
