SPRING HILL - Hernando County fire officials responded to a house fire at 13222 Siam Drive on Friday afternoon.

Fire Rescue Training Chief James Billotte said the call came in at 1:30 p.m. and the first firefighter unit was on scene within minutes.

"Everybody was outside when we got here, and we did rescue one cat," Billotte said.

Two firefighters required medical attention after a roof collapse in the home, Billotte said, adding they were in stable condition.

Assistant Chief Kevin Carroll said Saturday one firefighter was released from the hospital Friday evening, and the other on Saturday afternoon. Carroll said both were doing well and were expected to recover fully.

Resident Angell Borda said she was out shopping when the fire started, and that her son was home at the time.

Borda said she does not have immediate family in the area.

The Red Cross responded, along with the Florida State Fire Marshal.

Fire Rescue officials said the fire appeared to be caused by an electrical problem.
