When the congregation of First Baptist Church of Garden Grove gets together for worship, a special occasion or one of its iconic theatrical performances, it is no small affair.
The unique style of this church, tucked away on a quiet corner street in Garden Grove just south of Brooksville, is what makes it shine with faith, fellowship and a community warmth that feels like family.
The church family recently came together to celebrate the dedication of its Children's Park, a project that took a few months to pull together.
There was a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication, followed by a prayer led by Pastor James Caskey thanking God for the church's blessings and the donations of money and labor that made the Children's Park possible.
"It's on our church property, but it's for the community," said Angie Caskey, Pastor Caskey's wife and director of the women's ministry at First Baptist Church of Garden Grove. "We want people to come here and bring their families and have their barbecues here,"
With various fundraisers, the church accumulated money to erect a pavilion and add a swing set and a tire swing. The park won't be complete, however, until a jungle gym is installed, which is planned for completion in the next few weeks.
The dedication doubled as a final fundraiser to collect money for the jungle gym.
