"Handyman" arrested on organized fraud charges

Published:

SPRING HILL - A man believed to have stolen checks and jewelry from elderly Spring Hill residents was arrested Tuesday by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Arrest affidavits show Jason Robert Buse, 32, was working as a handyman for two homes on Sail Boat Lane in Spring Hill.

Both victims were elderly, and reported Buse stole checks and jewelry from the residences. Records show Buse pawned the stolen jewelry, according to the sheriff's office.

Buse admitted to deputies he stole the items to fuel his pill addiction.

Buse was arrested on two counts of grand theft and one count of organized fraud. He is being held at the Hernando County Jail on $9,000 bond.

Court records show Buse was convicted of three misdemeanor counts of obtaining property by a worthless check in 2010.
