HCSO: Teen threatens mother with a knife

Published:

SPRING HILL - A 14-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday and accused of threatening her mother with a kitchen knife.

When a Hernando County Sheriff's deputy responded to the Spring Hill home on a domestic battery investigation, he learned of another physical confrontation between the girl and her mother.

Four days earlier, family members argued about going to a baseball game. The teen, whose name is being withheld because of her age, pushed her mother, causing her to fall and hit her head on a wall, deputies said.

When the mother pushed back, the girl grabbed a kitchen knife and "imitat(ed) a stabbing motion," an arrest report states.

The mother was not stabbed and said she did not call 911 at the time because it would make the "problem worse."

The teen is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery.

The Department of Juvenile Justice has released the teen to home detention at a shelter.
