HERNANDO BEACH - A Blue Pelican Marina employee who lost both legs Thursday after a boat forklift overturned and struck him was still listed Saturday as a patient at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

The hospital was unable to provide any additional information on the health status of James Runyon, 54, of Hudson, other than he was still occupying a unit at the hospital.

Runyon was airlifted to the hospital's trauma unit after being injured at the Hernando Beach boat ramp, and was listed as being in critical condition.

Hernando Beach Fire Chief David Freda, whose crews were first to respond after Runyon's injury, said he has not heard whether Runyon's health status has changed.

"We're going to try and go in and see him Monday," he said. Blue Pelican Marina and the Runyon residence could not be reached for comment.

Additional information will be reported as it becomes available.
