BROOKSVILLE - The Hernando County Fair wrapped up Saturday, ending a successful nine-day run.

It was the 63rd annual rendition of the event, featuring the sights, sounds and smells of a typical county fair. The final event was a demolition derby scheduled for Saturday evening.

Robin McAndrew, president of the Hernando County Fair Association, said with high turnouts last weekend, preliminary attendance numbers look "really good" and were on track to exceed last year's figures.

Fairgoers this year had new attractions to experience, such as a wild animal exhibit, magic shows, hypnotists and desserts created by local blueberry farmers.

The Hernando County Fairgrounds is at 6436 Broad St. in Brooksville.
