SPRING HILL — An intoxicated 24-year-old man is accused of banging on his slumbering neighbor’s door and window until he awoke, then attacking the man once he opened the front door, a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office report said.
Jessie Lee Michael Hartman, of 3535 Portillo Road, was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with burglary of a dwelling, the report said. He was expected to be released from the Hernando County Jail Wednesday after posting $250 bail.
According to the report:
Hartman repeatedly banged on his neighbor’s apartment window and door until the man, who had been asleep, opened his front door. Hartman then charged at the man and entered his apartment.
Hartman struck the man, who fought back in an attempt to get Hartman out of his apartment.
Another neighbor who saw the incident said that Hartman had also banged on his windows.
When a deputy arrived, Hartman was bleeding from the face. The deputy observed a trail of what appeared to be blood from the windows of both of Hartman’s neighbors.
Hartman said that he “just wanted to hang out” and couldn’t understand “why his neighbors had been so rude to him,” the report said.
The incident happened just before 4 a.m., records said.
Tuesday’s altercation resulted in Hartman’s fourth battery-related arrest in Hernando since 2012, records show.
He was first arrested on a battery charge in September 2012, and again 10 months later, when he was ordered not to drink alcohol and to undergo weekly testing, Hernando jail records show.
He was arrested on another battery charge in December 2013, and in February he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and battery, jail records show.
