Man arrested for battering pregnant girlfriend, deputies say

Published:

SPRING HILL - Leonardo Morales, 29, was arrested on aggravated battery charges Tuesday after battering his pregnant girlfriend last month, according to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

The alleged battery happened on the evening of Feb. 28, deputies said. An affidavit shows Morales hit the victim's ears hard enough to make them bleed, grabbed her neck and shook her, cutting off her air supply. The incident was witnessed by another man at the residence, deputies said. Morales was arrested on Tuesday night after trying to run out the back door of his Bromley Avenue home, a report shows.

Bail was not set because Morales was arrested for battering the same woman back in January, deputies said. The second arrest revoked his bail, according to the jail booking site.

Court records show Morales has been convicted of multiple charges in the past, including battery, assault, falsely reporting a crime, criminal mischief, DUI with property damage, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license.
