Man arrested in House of Claddagh burglary, detectives say

Published:

SPRING HILL - The sheriff's office has arrested a man believed to have burglarized the House of Claddagh at 5598 Commercial Way last Friday.

On Feb. 7, a suspect broke through the front door's glass and stole about $10,000 worth of Irish-style jewelry, according to the sheriff's office

A pawn broker heard the store had been broken into, and became suspicious after a customer, Randall Herrin, sold similar pieces of jewelry to him.

The shop's owner identified the jewelry at the pawn shop as stolen from her.

Detectives questioned Herrin at his River Road home, and the man said he found the jewelry in his garage and then sold it to the pawn shop.

He declined to speak with detectives further, according to the sheriff's office.

Herrin, 35, was arrested Tuesday on charges of burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawn broker. He continues to be held on $17,000 bail.

Some jewelry is still missing, according to the sheriff's office.

Court records show Herrin was convicted of driving with a suspended license in 2012.
