BROOKSVILLE - A Brooksville man was arrested Sunday after allegedly battering two Brooksville Regional Hospital nurses while receiving medical treatment, according to Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Mark A. Peet, 58, was arrested on charges of battery on an emergency medical care provider, two counts, and alcohol was involved, according to an arrest report.

Peet was at Brooksville Regional Hospital for medical treatment when he became verbally aggressive towards staff, the report shows, and when nurse Susan Avery entered the room and attempted to calm him down, Peet grabbed her upper right arm several times and pushed her backwards.

Another nurse, Candace LaFreniere, saw the incident and attempted to assist Avery, and Peet began to yell profanities, and tried to kick LaFreniere in the face, according to the report.

LaFreniere turned away and Peet struck her in the upper right arm/shoulder area, and both nurses provided sworn, written statements.

Peet was arrested and taken to Hernando County Jail without incident.
