Man drove without license

A Hudson man on probation for battery on a law enforcement officer was pulled over early Thursday morning and found driving with a suspended license, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

After being pulled over near Commercial Way and South Shore Drive, Calvin Ray Young, 21, “spontaneously uttered that he has a suspended driver’s license and he is on felony probation out of New Port Richey and he is looking at five years for violating said probation,” Deputy Eric Dunn’s report stated.

A separate report confirmed Young’s license was suspended indefinitely back in January for failure to pay traffic tickets. Neither report indicated why Young was pulled over while driving his silver Cadillac, other than a “traffic stop.”

Young is being held on no bond at the Hernando County Jail.

Pasco court records show Young was sentenced to probation for battery on a law enforcement officer in March. Young was found guilty of the misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct in January 2012 and had his adjudication withheld on charges of possession of paraphernalia in November 2012 and disorderly conduct in 2010.
