Man held on no bond after third retail theft, deputies say

Published:

SPRING HILL - A Spring Hill man accused of stealing about $900 worth of merchandise from Sam's Club on Thursday received additional drug charges while being booked at the Hernando County Jail.

A Hernando County Sheriff's Office arrest affidavit shows Shaun Suydam, 20, was arrested on retail theft charges at Sam's Club, 13360 Cortez Blvd., after a store manager saw him opening up packages of DVDs and electronics and taking them out of the store.

When confronted in the parking lot, Suydam said he was going to get the money for the items, valued at $901.97, but fled the scene.

Deputies caught up with Suydam as he sat in his car in his Naimisha Loop driveway, according to the report. Because law enforcement found marijuana in his car, and a Alprazolam tablet in his pants pocket when he was being booked at the jail, Suydam was booked on the additional charges of possession of drug equipment, possession of a controlled substance and introducing contraband into a detention center.

This is Suydam's third arrest for retail theft, according to jail booking, and he is being held on no bond.
