BROOKSVILLE -

A registered sex offender is heading back to prison for failing to update his address with the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles.

Assistant State Attorney Erin Daly said that Jimmy Ray McBee, 62, properly updated his address with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office but failed to do so with the DMV when he moved into the county.

McBee lived at his new house between January and November 2012 without updating his information with the driver’s license office. Sexual predator requirements require offenders to submit their new address within 48 hours of moving.

McBee entered a guilty plea in Judge Daniel Merritt Jr.’s court Thursday and was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

Because McBee has been in the Hernando County jail since Nov. 14 of last year, he has 134 days of time already served.

Florida Department of Corrections show McBee was incarcerated from July 1994 to June 2006 for two May 1991 charges for the attempted sexual battery on a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious assaults on a child under 16. McBee was originally sentenced to 30 years in prison on the first charge.
