Man, juvenile found with knives, charged

Published:

SPRING HILL - A Spring Hill man was arrested on charges of loitering and resisting arrest without violence after being seen with knives behind the closed Cumberland Farms gas station on Mariner Boulevard, deputies reported.

A deputy standing in a well-lit area announced he was with law enforcement and Kasaar Amaillie Thompson, 18, and a juvenile ran away, according to an arrest report. The deputy wrote in the report that he heard a metallic sound against the pavement, and after a short foot chase, both Thompson and the juvenile were taken into custody. The deputy said he found and confiscated two kitchen knives.

"(The juvenile) spontaneously uttered that they were there to rob someone," Deputy Keith McCabe wrote. "(He said) the knives were going to be used in the robbery, but did not state a name of the person to be robbed."

Thompson was being held at Hernando County Jail on $1,000 bail, and the juvenile was sent to Ocala for assessment, according to the report.
