Men booked after being found in stolen John Boat, deputies say

BROOKSVILLE – Two Brooksville men were arrested Tuesday after being found in a boat reported stolen from the Chassahowitzka River Campground in 2013, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to Lake Byster after receiving a call that Kevin M. Conard-Roberts, 20, and Dillon Hough, 19, were shooting at cows with a pellet gun.

Deputy Christopher Beaudin later made contact with the men at the boat ramp, and a background check on the men and the vessel, a 2002 Triton 14-foot green boat, which was listed as stolen.

After being read their rights, the men said they purchased the boat from a person who had listed it on Craigslist in Pasco County about three weeks ago for about $200, deputies said.

They later admitted to taking the boat from Chassahowitzka River Campground, and were arrested on charges of grand theft of a vessel, deputies said.

Both were being held on $2,000 bail at the Hernando County Jail.
