SPRING HILL - Michael DeBusscher, the owner of Michael's Bistro in Spring Hill, was arrested Tuesday on charges he stole more than $15,000 in sales tax collected from customers and failing to send it into the state. He was released Wednesday after posting a $2,000 bond.

The Florida Department of Revenue, which announced the charges, said DeBusscher collected tax from customers during various periods in 2011 and 2012 and didn't report the money he collected at his restaurant at 120 U.S. 19.

DeBusscher, 43, who lives in Hudson, was arrested by Hernando County sheriff's deputies on a grand theft charge. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines, possible repayment of stolen sales tax, payment of penalty and investigative costs.

Contacted Wednesday at his restaurant DeBusscher declined comment on the advice of his attorney.

DeBusscher's arraignment is set for 9 a.m. June 18 in Hernando County Circuit Court.
