SPRING HILL -

Narcotics detectives found 3.5 pounds of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at a Spring Hill home Wednesday, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officers had previously smelled marijuana when they came to the residence and a juvenile answered the door. Detectives returned with a search warrant.

Homeowner Darren Burns, 53, was out of town, but told law enforcement by phone there was marijuana in his house and where to find it.

Detectives also found items often used to grow the drug, a press release stated.

Charges are pending against Burns.
