BROOKSVILLE - Traffic on State Road 50 came to a standstill Friday afternoon when a motorbike and an SUV collided near McDonald's before the intersection of Cortez and Coastal boulevards.

Gerald Olney said he was going about 25 miles per hour when the foot peg of his motorbike collided with the tire of a white SUV driven by Gina Warren.

"Because it's kind of sharp it punctured her tire, surprisingly," Olney said.

Olney and his motorbike turned over, he said, causing injuries to his head, hands and knees.

Olney said he refused medical treatment, and was not wearing a helmet.

"It's enough excitement for me today," he said. "I'm thanking the lord Jesus I'm not hurt seriously."

Warren did not appear to have any visible injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene, which was on the other side of Cortez from where an accident occurred just the day before that sent four people to Oak Hill Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"It's a construction zone, and something happens out here every single day," said Patrick Warren, Gina's husband. "You got to be on the lookout."
