BROOKSVILLE - The Hernando County School District selected new principals Monday for Explorer K-8 and Eastside Elementary School for the 2013-14 school year.

Barbara Kidder has been selected as the new principal at Explorer K-8.

Kidder is currently District Manager of Professional Development, but has been a principal and assistant principal in the past. She has been with the district since 1994.

The district also selected Mary LeDoux, current principal of Brooksville Elementary School, to be principal at Eastside Elementary School, according to School Superintendent Lori Romano. LeDoux has been with the district 19 years.

The decision to move LeDoux to Eastside comes days after the state awarded the elementary school an F grade: the first in the district's history.

"Please join me in congratulating these administrators in their new positions," Romano wrote in a district release issued Monday.

The district's Human Resources Department has posted the vacancies for Manager of Professional Development and Brooksville Elementary School, and is accepting applicants.
