Police: Teens arrested for backpack burglary

Published:

BROOKSVILLE - Brooksville Police apprehended two teenagers Tuesday evening after receiving calls of a vehicle burglary in the Publix parking lot.

According to a witness, Quade Rose, 18, and a 16-year-old were walking through the Publix parking lot when they found a minivan with the window rolled down.

The minor reached in the window and grabbed a backpack while Rose watched, according to a report.

Both of the suspects looked through the backpack, and left it in the parking lot before getting into their own vehicle and leaving the area.

Rose and the minor admitted to taking the backpack when interviewed by police, who arrived on scene after the call came in at 10:50 p.m., and were taken into custody on charges of burglary to a conveyance.

Rose was booked on $5,000 bond at the Hernando County Jail, and the minor was released to his guardians on instructions from the Department of Juvenile Justice.
